A NEW BATH HOUSE IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE
PROJECT OVERVIEW
A new bath house in the grounds of a historic country house, containing an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and sauna. Conceived as a temple in the park, it draws on the tradition of ornamental garden buildings, as well as private bath houses including K. F. Schinkel’s Roman Baths at Potsdam. A bas-relief by Classical sculptor Alexander Stoddart was commissioned for the west elevation. The project included bespoke design by the Practice of lighting fixtures, door handles, taps, furniture and other fittings, in harmony with the architecture.
