THE CHAPEL OF OUR LADY, WILLIAMSTRIP
A new chapel in the grounds of a historic country house. Externally the chapel presents itself as a stripped-down Classical temple in a restrained manner. The windows are filled with stained glass designed by Craig Hamilton depicting female saints and the Stations of the Cross. The interior is barrel-vaulted with decorative plasterwork, and lined with polished Irish limestone columns recessed into the Portland stone walls. Over the altar is a polished limestone and statuary marble ciborium, consisting of a freestanding barrel vault supported on four columns. At the west end, a polished and gilded walnut screen forms a small narthex and baptistery. All of the lighting fixtures, ironmongery and liturgical furniture were designed by Craig Hamilton.
