The Campanile in Dallas, Texas, featuring its landmark clock tower and classical architecture within the surrounding urban skyline.

THE CAMPANILE, OLD PARKLAND, DALLAS

PROJECT OVERVIEW

At the centre of a campus of new Classical office buildings in Dallas, Texas, this monumental belltower was conceived as a beacon for the campus and for the wider city. The arcaded ground floor houses Alexander Stoddart’s marble figure of Tyche, on a pedestal in the centre of a void open to the basement below, as well as allegorical statues in wall niches at high level. Externally, the bottom stages in Indiana limestone and red brick incorporate references to Texan flora and fauna, with Corinthian orders unique to the building. The bell was cast especially for the project, and the clock uses a restored historic movement saved from an American civic building. The Practice designed all of the visible fixtures and fittings. The Architect of Record in the US was BECK Architecture LLC.
